Welcome to the Royal Museum of Africa

1962 -2012 " 50 years Tribal African Art"

The Royal Museum of Africa (MRA) has a reputation of being one of the finest and most impressive African museums in the world. Since its inception in 1898, the Museum's mission is to conserve and manage collections to conduct scientific research and disseminate knowledge through numerous museum activities, educational and scientific destined for a wide audience.

The museum is actively involved in sustainable development of Africa and would also be a place of encounter and reflection on contemporary Africa and its problems.

Our diverse collections are of high scientific value and unique in many areas. Much of our collections are being digitized to make them accessible to researchers worldwide.

MRAC plays a crucial role in many international projects and networks where it brings its expertise and specific knowledge. RMCA scientists participate each year in more than 300 scientific publications.

As a dynamic museum, the RMCA has an active policy with regard to temporary exhibitions. The museum holds an average of two new exhibitions a year. He also contributes to the achievement of some thirty exhibitions abroad and in Belgium via the loan of objects and through his expertise.

In 2010 the present building of the museum celebrates its centennial anniversary and this is the starting signal of a major renovation. The unique charm of this listed building will be preserved, but a renovation of contents and set design is necessary.

Via our website, I invite you to become acquainted with this fascinating institution and hopes to meet you at one of our business.
